Hockey Biography:

I am someone who is athletic and hard working.  I love to go out and be active.  Sports are something that are very important to me, they have helped me to be a better person.  I have always been encouraged to try various sports and activities and to find the enjoyment in the things I do.  I have been involved in softball, hockey, figure skating and soccer, while also doing a lot of different styles of competitive dance.  I started doing a lot of my activities, because of my older sister and parents.  I would always try to play and be a part of what my sister was doing.  This means that as I got older, I was always training and competing against girls that where older, wiser and stronger than myself.  This helped me to elevate my understanding and work ethic.  This effort shines through when in pressure games, like the Gold medal game at the Canadian Finals for Softball. I led the team with stats like times on base, stolen bases and number of times crossing home base. I have always displayed my leadership through hard work and perseverance.

I started my hockey path with CanSkate and figure skating. After watching my old sister play hockey for a year, I was inspired to play. I started playing hockey when I was 6 and have been playing for 9 years now.  As my game raised to higher levels, I played in many different regions and have many different styles of coaching, which has led me to being a very well-rounded player.  As well, I have played all the positions on the ice, which has also increased my understanding of the game of hockey.  I enjoy playing hockey because it’s a great way to meet new people and make new friends.  It also has a great social part to it. I love getting out spending time with friends and playing sports and training. I play hockey because it is fun and a great way for me to stay healthy and active though out my life.  Now, I am trying to stay health and active by leading by example for my teammates both in hockey and softball.  I have led various exercise opportunities and have been out practicing my skills with teammates when possible or by video calls.

I also led by example with my education.  In Grade 10, my schooling was both in person and online, often switching mid semester.  I maintained a 90 plus average in my academic courses, with achieving the top marks in the Phys-Ed program and in Canadian Geography.  Once I have completed my high school education, I wish to continue to a post-secondary education where I am interested in studying Kinesiology or Exercise Science.  But I still have not fully made up my mind.  As for my hockey, I would love to continue my education in the game at higher levels.  I would love to play for a varsity team.  After that, I would love the opportunity to continue with hockey playing in Canada or the US and maybe making a career out of the game of hockey.
